Expect an adaptation period

New dentures often feel bulky at first, and speech and chewing can take time to settle. Starting with softer foods and reading aloud are commonly suggested ways to adapt.

Fit changes over time

The gums and bone underneath a denture change gradually after teeth are lost. This is why periodic review, relining or replacement may be needed even when a denture was comfortable initially.

Questions worth asking your dentist

How many appointments will treatment involve? What will the denture look like at the trial stage? What maintenance will it need? What should I do if it feels loose or causes a sore spot? What alternatives exist in my case?
