Changes in the supporting ridge
After teeth are lost the bone ridge gradually resorbs. A denture made to fit the ridge as it was may no longer adapt closely to it later.
Wear and damage
Denture teeth wear with use, and the base can distort or crack. Both can change how the denture seats and how the bite meets.
What to do about it
A loose denture should be assessed by your dentist. Relining, rebasing, adjustment or replacement may be considered. Home repair kits and self-adjustment can damage the denture and irritate the tissues.
